The Diadem from La Colombine Necropolis

bronze wire diadem with spiral tips

An actual bronze diadem has been found in a rich female burial (tomb 101)
of the La Colombine necropolis, Champlay, Yonne, in north-central France.

A very similar diadem turned up in another woman's grave not far away
at Les Grèves, Barbuise-Courtavant, Aube.

Both bronze diadems date to the 9th century bce, which is within the projected time-frame
of the diademada stelas in Spain.

The picture is unclear, but stones appear to be embedded in the twisted-wire facets (contrast the texture of light areas within the diadem with the woven backdrop). This structure corresponds closely with the diadems shown on Spanish stelas: rectangular facets in curved rows, often topped by circular or rectangular ornamentation.
