Max Dashu founded the\u00a0Suppressed Histories Archives in 1970 to research and document global women’s\u00a0history, reflecting the full spectrum of the world’s peoples.\u00a0She has built a\u00a0collection of 40,000 images, from which she has created 130\u00a0slideshows on female cultural heritages, including Indigenous traditions,\u00a0and\u00a0patterns of domination. She is internationally known for her\u00a0expertise on ancient female iconography, matricultures and patriarchal systems,\u00a0medicine women and shamans, witch hunts, and female spheres of power.<\/p>\n
Dashu uses\u00a0images to teach, scanning the cultural record: archaeology, history, art, orature,\u00a0linguistics and spiritual philosophies. She has presented her\u00a0visual talks\u00a0in North and Central America, Europe, and Australia,\u00a0delivering keynotes, at numerous conferences\u00a0and published in journals and anthologies, such as\u00a0Goddesses in\u00a0World Mythology<\/em>\u00a0(Praeger 2010) and the\u00a0Encyclopedia\u00a0of Women in World Religion<\/em> (ABC-Clio 2018) . Dashu\u00a0has\u00a0published two videos on dvd:\u00a0Women’s\u00a0Power in Global Perspective\u00a0<\/em>(2008) and\u00a0Woman Shaman: The Ancients<\/em>\u00a0(2013). Her book\u00a0Witches and Pagans:\u00a0Women in European Folk Religion,\u00a0700-1000<\/em>\u00a0was published by Veleda Press in 2016. <\/p>\n Pythias and Melissae<\/em> (Vol II in Dashu’s 15-volume\u00a0series\u00a0Secret History of the Witches<\/em>)\u00a0<\/em>is\u00a0forthcoming in 2018.
