Course set-up, sub renewal and other details:

The WOMAN SHAMAN online course with Max Dashu opens July 7, 2010 and runs for six months. It will be conducted via the WomanShaman listserv, a private yahoogroup for subscribers only. Articles, discussion, commentary, questions, and resources will be sent to you by email, which you can access at your own pace, at any time convenient for you. So don't worry about schedules or meeting times: there aren't any, except for the occasional live-cast webinars. I will also post links to video clips, audio and image web pages, and announce webinars and/or teleconferences for the course on WomanShaman listserv. You have access to the discussion logs and yahoo files as long as you are subscribed.

Subscription is month to month, openended. You can sign up and sign off anytime. One month sub is $29.; subscriptions prepaid for three months or more are $25./month. Low-income scholarship subs are available. If you would like to be a Sustainer, supporting the Suppressed Histories Archives, you are welcome to subscribe at the sustaining rate of $50./month, or at any amount above the monthly subscription. (To do this, use Sustainers will receive a free copy of the Woman Shaman dvd when it’s released, and one signed poster or print.) When it's time to renew, go to the Subscription page or just navigate to it from http://www.sourcememory.net.

Please note, there is no set meeting day or time for the course, with the exception of webinar presentations (and possibly teleconferences, if members choose to have them). Since participants live in widely dispersed timezones, I will probably offer at least two sessions of each webinar, depending on registration. Webinars will be free to course members (unless otherwise specified, in the case of off-topic presentations) who are currently subscribed. Others may participate by signing up for the webinars only, and paying a separate registration fee.

There are no grades, no tests, no credits, and no required papers for this course. You are invited to contribute your insights, experience, and relevant resources (web pages, books, articles, videos, etc.) but this is up to you. If you are busy and can’t deal with much email, I recommend creating a special folder in your email program so that you can easily access and review posts without having to log in to yahoo egroups. Or you can set your yahoo account to Digest format which will place all posts in one mail per day (if any). The default is individual mails from each participant, but Digest can be selected in your personal settings at the web address for WomanShaman discussion group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/womanshaman/

This is also where you'll find the logs and other course files. (You can post from this address as well, if you have a yahoo username and password, for example when you are away from your home computer. Posts from non-subscribed email addresses will not go through.) This page is only accessible to registrants, all of whom I will personally add to the listserv. You'll receive a welcome email from yahoo egroups. My primary content posts (as opposed to responses) will be marked with a * in the subject line. When replying, please include only the relevant part of the post you are replying to (if any). You are welcome to ask questions! and to post your own information, images, and links.

To post on the discussion group, send to womanshaman@yahoogroups.com. It's usually easiest to hit reply, but make sure to write a new Subject title if you are changing the subject. This makes it easier for people to track the discussion and avoids confusion. If you have chosen to receive the Digest format, do not hit reply without making sure to delete all the other posts.
